EatAlley opened earlier this year right next to Amiri and I finally managed to go for dinner with a friend. The place tended to accumulate a line but I think the hype has finally started to die down a little bit.
I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I wasn't really sure what to expect, but there seemed to be plenty of interesting options on the menu that would be worth trying. I think I should go back to try more of it. I got the nasi lemak because it seemed everyone around me was having that, but the signature spicy chicken scared me, so I went for the chicken rendang. It was good. Rice, egg, salted dried ?anchovies, curry, peanuts. Classic. Good. Felt like comfort food.
I didn't end up trying my friend's horfun but I do want to try it someday. The dark colour kind of scares me, as does the fully raw egg in it.
We also got some salted egg buns, which I found were pretty nice. I think they weren't what my friend expected. They were good.
My friend wanted to try the teh tarik. I actually had a sip and it tasted... really weird. I guess I'm not used to the taste, but I did not like it.
Card surcharge here. I would come back.
