Laoliuzhou Noodle Restaurant 老柳州螺蛳粉

Rating: 4⭐

Ordered:
- Signature rice noodles with fried egg 灵魂炸蛋螺蛳粉 (tiny spicy 微微辣): $18.90
- plum drink

I came here with a friend. I've been meaning to try this place because it's the only place I know that has river snails, which I remember enjoying back in China. My friend agreed.

We came on a public holiday. Usually you get a free (non-alcoholic) drink if you spend more than $20, but because of the public holiday surcharge all our noodles cost more than $20, so we both got free drinks.

My bowl of noodles was good. The fried egg was unique and I don't think I've ever had something like it before. There were a lot of preserved veggies and ?peanuts and tofu bits, which gave the dish good variety. There were only two very large "river snails" that honestly didn't really look or taste like river snails at all. My friend mentioned they looked more like ocean snails... they didn't really taste like much at all. Slightly disappointing imo, especially since they're supposedly the whole point of this business.

Eh. It was still a good feed.
