Hector’s Deli
Rating: 5⭐
Ordered:
- Tuna melt: $17
- Iced matcha latte: $6
I actually haven't visited a sandwich shop yet this year. I'm not sure what to label this as... Australian? sandwich?
I was choosing between the mushroom melt and tuna melt and my friend got the mushroom, so I got the tuna. The sandwiches were very nicely toasted, the perfect level of crispy. Perfection. The inside was all warm and melty as well. It was really good. My tuna melt was ever so slightly spicy and I think I actually would enjoy the mushroom melt more. Tuna melt was good but not amazing, mostly because the tuna tasted just like canned tuna and I couldn't really shake the similarity.
The matcha latte was surprisingly good. I was shocked. We went to the Fitzroy one but there is a Hector's Deli on Little Collins St, so hopefully the quality is the same across campuses, but I was seriously impressed. This matcha was better than the Hikari matcha (for some reason Hikari seems to be the matcha I keep comparing to) and on par with Amiri's matcha, to be honest. It was a good level of strong and although it did mildly water down when mixing it still kept the matcha taste. I'd actually say it was better than Amiri's because it's cheaper and has less ice.
Yeah. Really solid sandwich shop. Would definitely come again.
