I admit I am probably the wrong person to be rating Indian food, because I have very limited experience with it, and I also have awful spice tolerance so I can't really appreciate half the flavours. But of the Indian / Sri Lankan places I have eaten at, this was by far the best experience.
After not being able to decide for ages we finally ended up settling on the tasting menu, which is a weekday special. My friend is vego so we got all vegetarian dishes.
The bird nests looked interesting to me. They were actually really good. Cold, and I think slightly spicy, but quite nice. You pour the shotglass of sauces into the ball and then eat it whole. There were dry noodles all around which we sprinkled on top. Pretty cool presentation.
Butter paneer always hits. We got recommended the dahl curry by an employee because my friend doesn't like eggplant. It was solid. More watery than the butter paneer, so it went better with rice.
I liked the little pink thing our curries came in, it gave it all a bit of an interesting flair.
We ended up both getting mango lassi, which was actually much nicer than other mango lassis I've had. It was fairly big, really thick, and came with ?flowers on it. I enjoyed it a lot.
For dessert I let my friend pick cos I didn't know what they were. The gulab jamun looked a bit like a donut. I thought it would be akin to sticky date pudding, and it was probably a similar consistency, just quite mushy. It went really well with the vanilla ice cream. Again, came with these ?flowers over the top. Gave it a bit of a fancier look.
Overall I really enjoyed this place. I can't particularly attest to the quality of the food, because I rarely have Indian, but my friend enjoyed this place and I felt like the food was good.
