Amiri Cafe (5)

Rating: 4.5 ⭐

Ordered:
- green grape konnyaku cheesecake: $13.90
- sesame latte (hot, full cream): $7

I came here to study right after a stressful presentation. Decided to treat myself to a cake slice. Have I tried any of the cakes at Amiri before? Crazy how it's my fifth time at this cafe and I still am trying new things.

I had some doubts about the cake but it was actually really good. I'd say the cake tasted 5 stars. The jelly bits around the grapes were also grape flavoured in the perfect way. The cheesecake was yummy. The cookie base was the right firmness. The only minor gripe was that this cake was difficult to eat with just a fork, which is all that was provided to me. I think it needs a knife to properly eat, because the jelly was too firm to break apart easily with just a fork. It wasn't like the jelly was too firm, it was fine, but I think a knife was required. The grapes kind of fell out and the top jelly part came off of the cheesecake base, so I ended up eating them separately.

The sesame latte was alright. It smelled strongly of sesame, but it wasn't as sweet as sesame ice cream, which isn't anything wrong but I didn't enjoy it as much. Didn't help that I was having it with a very sweet cake slice. I found that at the end there was a lot of powder accumulated at the bottom, where drinking the sediment felt like drinking powder. The mixture was quite thick, so not as easy to swish around and create a suspension like for other drinks.

I wouldn't get a sesame latte again. Matcha latte ftw.

Card surchage and cash discount (5% cash discount, quite significant. I need to bring cash more)
