I convinced my friend to hold her birthday here. We had a gathering of 8 people and we ordered quite a few things off the menu. As always it was great food. I wasn't aware there was an upstairs section of Max but that's where we were because we were a big group who had booked ahead. We also had kind of a dedicated waitress who took our orders? It was trying to be fancy but we had to wait a looooong time for our food to actually arrive so that kind of decreased the points.
I accidentally convinced everyone to get the purple moon cocktail because it was so life-changing last time I got it. They were happy to make half-shots for two people who were driving. I didn't realise that the cocktail actually comes with about 2.5 shots of spirits in it - so it's actually pretty good value for money. Birthday girl also tried a second cocktail - the spiced apple pie - which I didn't get to taste but we all passed it around smelling it because it smelled exactly like apple pie. She said that it tasted just like apple pie too.
Entree of cheesy garlic bread was great. Very cheesy.
As usual, food was excellent. Mushroom pizza was lovely, we love mushrooms. San Daniele was also good. I would rate that one actually better than the mushroom one. In terms of pastas, beef and truffle fettuccini was obviously excellent. The penne pollo funghi was also reeeaaally good.
We got the prawn and scallop risotto. It was slightly spicy but a tolerable level. I didn't love it as much as I love the pizzas and pastas, but it was still good risotto. I think I just wasn't feeling risotto that day.
Max on Hardware hits as always.
