Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen

Rating: 4.5 ⭐

Ordered:
- Original tonkatsu with pork chashu, spring onion, heavy soup broth, normal ramen oil, normal soy sauce, hard noodles + egg and bamboo: $21.90 + $4 + $3.50
- Black sesame ice cream: $5.50

We went here for my friend’s birthday. It was a fairly small gathering of 5 people total. None of us had ever been here before but they had an interesting ordering method where everyone gets an A3 sheet and you grab a pencil and write your name and tick off what you want to order. Fascinating. It was also weirdly hard to find this restaurant but it's just further down the street than you think it is and also in the basement so you have to go down a set of stairs.

You can customize your ramen bowl to some degree. The soup was pretty salty so maybe consider light soy next time.

The ramen was actually really good. It’s not something I’ve had anywhere else. The noodles were thin too, and “hard”, but they were still really good. This place loses half a star because my bowels protested after the meal but I couldn’t tell if it was directly from the ramen or not.

Some of us also got ice cream afterwards. This black sesame ice cream was practically identical to what we served back in the day at OKAMI; if anything it was marginally more creamy. It was a good ice cream.
